The European AI company Aleph Alpha has launched its LUMINOUS series for the commercial use. LUMINOUS offers users a “Made in Europe” alternative to large AI language models from the US or China. LUMINOUS can process, analyze and produce a wide range of texts without user-specific training. It outperforms currently used AI models, which often only have individual capabilities and are thus limited in their application. The generalizability of LUMINOUS enables application fields such as answering questions from large data sets in natural language or producing summaries of complex texts.
In addition, users gain access to MAGMA, an innovative program that combines image with text for the first time, and thereby captioning pictorial content far beyond typical object recognition. Users can ask questions about images in natural language and receive an AI-generated answers. Luminous has successfully been implemented on a project to name crypto-art.
LUMINOUS & MAGMA are available via an interface (API) or through the interactive user interface (Playground). Customers incur costs depending on the size of the addressed AI model and the scope of use. When signing up, users receive a certain amount of free credits to get started. In addition, startups and scientific institutes may apply for further free credits. With this, Aleph Alpha wants to contribute to the development of an innovative, European startup ecosystem. Das KI-Forschungs- und Anwendungsunternehmen Aleph Alpha öffnet mit der LUMINOUS Serie seine gegenwärtig leistungsfähigsten KI-Sprachmodelle zur kommerziellen Nutzung. LUMINOUS bietet Nutzern erstmals eine “Made in Europe”-Alternative zu großen KI-Sprachmodellen aus den USA oder aus China. LUMINOUS kann ohne nutzerspezifisches Training ein breites Spektrum an Texten verarbeiten, analysieren und auch selber produzieren. Damit übertrifft es gegenwärtig eingesetzte KI-Modelle, die häufig nur über einzelne Fähigkeiten verfügen und somit äußerst limitiert in ihrer Anwendung sind. Die Generalisierbarkeit von LUMINOUS ermöglicht Anwendungsfelder wie zum Beispiel die Beantwortung von Fragen aus großen Datenmengen in natürlicher Sprache, oder die Erstellung von Zusammenfassungen von komplexen Texten.
Zusätzlich erhalten Nutzer Zugang zu MAGMA, einer neuartigen, Eigenentwicklung, die erstmals Bild mit Text kombiniert und dadurch bildliche Inhalte verschriftlicht, weit abseits typischer Objekterkennung. Nutzer können nun Fragen auf Bildern in natürlicher Sprache stellen und erhalten im Gegenzug von der KI generierte Antworten. Ein Projekt zur Betitelung von Krypto-Kunst wurde bereits erfolgreich durchgeführt.
Über eine Schnittstelle (API) und über das interaktive User-Interface (Playground) stehen LUMINOUS & MAGMA für den direkten Zugriff bereit. Für Kunden fallen Kosten je nach Größe des angesprochenen KI-Modells und Umfang der Nutzung an. Zum Start erhalten alle Nutzer Free Credits. Darüber hinaus können sich Startups und wissenschaftliche Institute auf weitere Free Credits bewerben.
